GETTING READY FOR SCHOOL: Supplies your child will need: Backpack (regular size), a pair of slippers to leave in school, a change of clothes to leave in school (2 pairs of underwear), a bathing suit and towel (in a separate bag) on swim days, sneakers (preferably velcro) especially on gym days. No flip-flop sandals (safety reasons).
SUGGESTIONS FOR A SUCCESSFUL SCHOOL YEAR: --Come to school on time; instruction and learning takes place as soon as we are settled. --Early to bed!! --READ TO YOUR CHILD DAILY! Have lots of books at home or use the library often. --Monitor and limit the use of TV, video games, computer. --Help your child get organized by having a place to do homework and keep school supplies. --Have a schedule or calendar posted. Encourage learning by asking questions about school. --Be sure your child completes his/her own homework daily. --Check your child's backpack and homework folder daily. There are often important notes. --Play counting games and word/letter sound games at home ("I see something in the room that starts with the sound /b/."), in the car, or wherever. We can give you suggestions for this if you need them. --Send a quick, healthy snack (crackers, pretzels)---no chips or candy.
